Octuber and the last quarter of the year

One of that kind of things than I like of every year is the last months of it, especially when the x’mas season comes to home, but this year is very special for some reasons, one of them is the October month.

At my day job as an IT Architect we mark the calendar on October 10 as the final date to deliver one very big project for the major clients company, so during these days until that date the work at the office is so much harder that the normal, but it´s fine, especially when the things are working.

Besides, October 31 is another special date because on that day three years ago two very special persons has a fatal accident and after of that, booth of them dies after a several months of a coma statement, but not all the things are bad, especially if you think than there are living new lives in somewhere.

Anyway, the lives continues and I’ll try to post more frequently here at this space.

Airport transportation at New York

If you’re newer or an older traveler for sure when you trip to a new place around the world one of the things hard to find is an adequate transportation system after the landing of your aircraft from the airport to your final destination. In my personal experience take a cab at LaGuardia airport to my friends house was one the bad experiences at my arrivals at NY, specially the high cost of it, but today someone recommends me check this service of transportation called Airlink Shuttle.

In fact this service is some kind of private transportation but at lower cost between the JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark Airports throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs and vice versa for example shuttle to JFK, all of this using share ride vans.

So I decided definitely in my next trip to NY I use this service ‘cause this one appears as a good and economic option and if you make a roundtrip book using their website you get a discount of $5,oo USD so if I used their services at my last trip to NY I didn’t pay the $30,oo USD from LaGuardia to Manhattan, just $13,oo USD booking on line first of course.

Anyway, that’s the good things to travel to NY; you can always find another better option.

Stone Temple Pilots 2008

One of the best bands I ever heard before in my life is Stone Temple Pilots; in fact I’m fan from the band when they launch them first CD called CORE and from there until the last CD I’m always hear their music, and a lot of people called STP as the best band in Alternative genre and I’m accord with them.

But, few years after they launch their first CD they decide dissolve the band and I lost all my opportunities to see them in a show. Until this 2008 year when they come get together again and start a new tour in the US.

The good news to me is that they offer two shows nearly to NY city during the same days I’m stay in the city, May 26 and May 31, so I try to go to one of those concerts if it’s possible, but if some of the readers from this blog goes to the concert an lives in NY, could let me a message so we can go together.

I found this very interesting interview to Johnnie Sapong, a hairstylist living and working in New York, and I found interesting because from my point of view It’s more commonly to find a Dreadlock Rasta at Quito, Ecuador walking through the city than find one of them in NY working as hairstylist.

For sure is just a theme of stereotypes made by myself at my head, but this kind of thinks helps me to understand the different people points of view around of the world.

As Johnnie says:
Rastafari is basically a way of life. It’s about getting back to Africa and understanding where you come from. I go back to Ghana normally once a year, but of late I’ve been having children, so it’s harder. I’ve got three boys now.

Saltarello

The first time when I heard Saltarello was so much time ago, maybe ten or more years ago, and I just heard but I don’t put attention on it until several months after when I back to hear again and someone told me a little bit more about the story of Saltarello.

The Saltarello was a kind of dance very popular in de middle age and it was interpreted by a group of flutes, mandolins and some other instruments, the history tells than in some rare cases to the group of instruments a woman added hers voice to give more realism to the music.

Actually it’s still possible to hear the music is possible, but the dance steps were lost in the time forever.

The version than I heard of this song was interpreted by Dead Can Dance and you can find it on the Aion Album or if you want more info about the dance you can find it in Wikipedia.
